8-week training offered in Groningen

More information following soon...

We are building the website with all the information needed about the Mindfulness-Based Living Course, soon to be offered as an 8-week mindfulness/meditation course in Groningen focusing on mindfulness and compassion. The plan is to offer classes in English as well as classes in the Dutch language.

Mindfulness is an innate capacity of the mind that can be trained to alleviate stress and low mood, to reduce the power of rumination and self-criticism, and to evoke emotional well being and proactivity. The Mindfulness-Based Living Course is a practical guide to the development of a mindful approach to living in the modern world. Its distinctive feature is a compassionate approach to mindfulness that is based on many years of experience in the practice and delivery of mindfulness training by two of its leading exponents - the Buddhist monk Choden and Heather Regan-Addis, both directors of the Mindfulness Association.

The Mindfulness-Based Living Course (MBLC) is a Mindfulness eight-week course, emphasizing kindness and self-compassion. It builds from the well known MBSR course laid out by John Kabat Zinn but works from the view that mindfulness, kindness, and compassion should be developed together to achieve insight in habitual patterns that keep us from achieving happiness in life. In such, the aim is not stress reduction as in the MBSR, but insight in our Human existence and a mindful training in how to be with ourselves.

If you want to read more about the MBLC and the view of the Mindfulness Association we can recommend the book 'Diamond Mind' by Rob Nairn as well as the book 'Mindfulness Based Living' by Choden and Heather Regan-Addis. Both are a good start for further reading in the MBLC curriculum.
